Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1.5 cups of warm water, 1 packet of yeast, and 1.5 teaspoons of fine grain salt. Stir gently until dissolved. Gradually mix in 3 cups of all-purpose flour until a sticky dough forms.
  2. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let rise at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours until bubbly and doubled in size.
  3. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with a large Dutch oven inside, including the lid, 30 minutes before the dough is ready.
  4. Lightly flour a clean work surface and your hands. Turn the sticky dough onto the floured surface, shape into a round loaf.
  5. Carefully remove the preheated Dutch oven from the oven, place the shaped dough inside, cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes until deep golden brown.
  6. Transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and enjoying.
