Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: all-purpose flour, instant dry yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Warm water and milk in a saucepan until comfortable to touch, stir in oil, then pour into the flour blend.
  3. Knead the mixture by hand for about 5 minutes until it forms a smooth dough.
  4. Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and set aside in a warm place for 1 hour to rise.
  5. Prepare your custard filling as per your preference and let it cool to room temperature.
  6. After rising, punch down the dough, knead for 3 more minutes, then divide into 12 pieces and shape.
  7. Cook the buns in a non-stick pan over low heat, covering and steaming for 10 minutes, then flipping for another 5 minutes.
  8. Transfer to a cooling rack and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
