Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 1 pound Shrimp, fresh or frozen Use pink and firm shrimp for the best texture.
  • 8 ounces Lump Crab Meat Fresh is ideal; canned is a handy substitute.
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese Full-fat for optimal creaminess.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Monterey Jack can be used for a milder taste.
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise Greek yogurt can be a lighter alternative.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard Yellow mustard can be used instead.
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning Cajun seasoning provides an extra kick.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh garlic can be used for more pungency.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper White pepper is a suitable substitute.
For the Biscuit Layer
  • 1 can Refrigerated Biscuit Dough Any brand or homemade dough works perfectly.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Melted for brushing on biscuits.
For Garnishing
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley Chopped for garnish; chives can also be used.

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and position the oven rack in the center.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine shrimp, crab meat, cheeses, mayonnaise, mustard, Old Bay, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the refrigerated biscuit dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Cut the biscuit dough into circles (about 3-4 inches in diameter) and place a spoonful of filling in each.
  5. Fold each biscuit over the filling to create a half-moon shape, pinching edges to seal.
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the filled biscuits on it, leaving space between each.
  7. Melt some butter and brush the tops of the biscuits.
  8. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling.
  9. Cool slightly on a wire rack and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
