Step-by-Step Instructions

  3. Add cold butter cut into cubes to the dry mixture and work it until it resembles coarse sand.
  4. Stir in shredded cheese and fresh herbs until evenly distributed.
  5. Gradually pour in buttermilk, stirring just until the dough comes together.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently before shaping it into a 1-inch thick circle.
  7. Cut the dough into wedges or rounds, place them on the baking sheet, and leave space between each scone.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until they are light golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
