Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt until well mixed.
  2. Gradually add approx. 1½ cups of warm water, stirring until a soft, shaggy dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into 10-12 pieces and flatten each into a disc about ¼ inch thick.
  5. Poke a small hole in the center of each disc.
  6. Heat at least 1 inch of oil in a skillet to 365°F (185°C).
  7. Fry the discs in batches for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  8. Carefully remove from oil and let excess oil drip off.
