  • 1 cup Long-Grain White Rice Brown or jasmine rice also work
  • 1 medium Onion Diced; can use shallots
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
For the Spices and Vegetables
  • 1 tsp Paprika Adds a smoky flavor
  • 1 tsp Cumin For warmth
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder Adjust based on heat preference
  • 1 piece Bell Pepper Diced; any vibrant color
For Seasoning
  • Salt To taste
  • Pepper To taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by dicing one medium onion and a vibrant bell pepper, then mincing two cloves of garlic. Place these ingredients in separate bowls.
Cooking Steak
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the sirloin steak with salt and pepper, then sear in the skillet for 4-5 minutes on each side. Remove and let rest for 5 minutes.
Sautéing Vegetables
  1. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and bell pepper. Sauté over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until softened.
Combining Rice and Spices
  1. Stir in the pre-cooked long-grain white rice, adding paprika, cumin, chili powder, and salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Melting Queso Cheese
  1. Sprinkle in the queso cheese, stirring continuously until it melts and combines with the rice.
Combining Steak with Rice
  1. Slice the rested steak into strips, return to the skillet, and toss with the queso rice mixture. Heat together for 1-2 minutes.
Serving
