Step-by-Step Instructions for Mini Cinnamon Rolls
  1. Combine warm water and active dry yeast in a mixing bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add warm milk, granulated sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and a large egg. Whisk until smooth, then stir in all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rest in a warm area for about 10 minutes.
  5. Mix granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl for the filling.
  6. Divide the dough into two portions and roll each into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Roll each rectangle into a log shape and slice into 12 pieces.
  8. Place the cut rolls in a greased baking pan and cover to rise for about 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and bake the rolls for 18-22 minutes until golden.
  10. Beat softened cream cheese and unsalted butter until smooth. Gradually mix in powdered sugar and pinch of salt to prepare frosting.
  11. Spread the cream cheese frosting over the rolls while they’re still warm.
