Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Add cubed cold butter to the flour mixture and mix until texture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in shredded cheese and crumbled bacon until evenly distributed.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk and maple syrup. Pour into dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
  5. Gently mix until a dough forms, stopping when no dry spots remain.
  6. Turn out dough onto a floured surface and pat into a rectangle about 1 inch thick. Fold it into thirds.
  7. Repeat the folding process 2-3 more times to create layers.
  8. Cut out biscuits with a floured cutter, pressing straight down without twisting.
  9. Chill cut biscuits in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes, if time allows.
  10. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  11. Bake biscuits for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Let biscuits cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
