  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour for gluten-free, use 1:1 gluten-free flour blend
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder ensure it's fresh
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon use fresh for enhanced aroma
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt kosher salt recommended
  • 1/2 cup milk can be substituted with plant-based milk

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add eggs, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with milk, until just combined.
  5. Grease your baking dish. Pour half of the batter, spread the apple mixture over it, and dollop the remaining batter on top.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the baking dish for 15 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
