Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and nutmeg. Set aside.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add eggs, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with milk, until just combined.
- Grease your baking dish. Pour half of the batter, spread the apple mixture over it, and dollop the remaining batter on top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the baking dish for 15 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
