Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of baking powder. Whisk until well blended.
- In a separate bowl, cream together ½ cup of softened butter and 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with ¾ cup of milk, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in 2 cups of peeled and chopped apples into your batter.
- Pour the prepared batter into the greased cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40-45 minutes.
- Prepare the crumb topping by combining 1 cup of flour, ½ cup of sugar, ½ cup of cold butter, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon until coarse crumbs form.
- After 25 minutes of baking, sprinkle the crumb topping over the cake and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Allow your cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
- For the cinnamon drizzle, combine ¼ cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of milk in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
- Pour the warm cinnamon drizzle over the cooled cake and serve.
