Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prep the Brisket: Pat the beef brisket dry with paper towels. In a bowl, mix salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and optional chili powder. Apply the mixture generously all over the brisket.
  2. Sear the Brisket: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Sear the brisket for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Slow Cook the Brisket: Transfer the seared brisket into a slow cooker with beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, onion, and minced garlic. Cook on LOW for about 8 hours until fork-tender.
  4. Shred the Brisket: Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes. Shred with forks, reserving ½ cup of the cooking liquid.
  5. Caramelization: In the skillet used for searing, melt butter, add reserved cooking liquid, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until bubbling. Add shredded brisket to the skillet and toss to coat evenly. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Serve: Enjoy the glazed brisket as a sandwich, atop mashed potatoes, or in tacos.
