Step-by-Step Instructions for Strawberry Shortcake Bars
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix in melted butter and vanilla until crumbly.
- Press two-thirds of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
- Chop fresh strawberries and toss with granulated sugar and flour. Allow to macerate for 10 minutes.
- Layer the macerated strawberries over the warm crust evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the strawberries. Bake for 30-35 minutes until topping is set.
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Whisk together powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla until smooth.
- Lift the bars out using the parchment overhang, drizzle with glaze, slice into 12 squares, and serve.
