Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich
  • 4 rolls Hoagie or sub rolls Choose large for full portions or small for sliders
  • 8 oz Provolone cheese Swap with mozzarella if preferred
  • 4 oz Salami Substitute with turkey or roast beef for a lighter option
  • 4 oz Pepperoni Turkey pepperoni can be used for a healthier alternative
  • 4 oz Ham or mortadella You can use any deli meat of your choice
  • 2 cups Shredded iceberg or romaine lettuce Spinach can work for a fresh twist
  • 1 medium Tomato Cherry tomatoes make a great substitution
  • 0.5 cup Red onion If preferred, green onions are a good alternative
  • 0.5 cup Banana pepper rings or pepperoncini (optional) Omit for a milder taste
For the Dressing
  • 0.5 cup Mayonnaise Greek yogurt makes for a healthier option
  • 2 tbsp Red wine vinegar Apple cider vinegar is a suitable alternative
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil Avocado oil can also be used
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano Fresh oregano can elevate the flavor
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder Fresh minced garlic works as well

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, olive oil, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  2. In a large bowl, toss together the shredded lettuce, sliced red onion, and banana pepper rings. Drizzle the dressing over and mix gently.
  3. Preheat oven or air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Slice hoagie rolls and place provolone cheese on the bottom halves. Toast for about 2 minutes.
  4. After toasting, layer salami, pepperoni, and ham (or mortadella) over the melted provolone.
  5. Spoon the slaw over the meats and layer any additional vegetables as desired. Drizzle with extra dressing if needed.
  6. Place the top halves of rolls onto the sandwich, press down, and cut in half if desired.
