Step-by-Step Instructions
- Start by pouring 8 cups of filtered water into a large pot and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
- Once the water is boiling, carefully remove the pot from the heat and add 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers. Stir gently, then cover the pot and let it steep for 15-20 minutes.
- Grab a fine mesh strainer and place it over a large pitcher. Pour the hibiscus mixture through the strainer to remove the petals.
- While the liquid is still warm, add 1 cup of sugar to the pitcher, stirring well until fully dissolved.
- Juice about 4-5 fresh limes until you have 1/2 cup of lime juice. Pour the juice into the pitcher, mixing thoroughly with the hibiscus base.
- Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or serve immediately over ice in glasses.
