  • 1 cup Vegetable or Chicken Broth Chicken broth adds richer flavor.
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Substitute with half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese Do not skimp!
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano Optional but highly recommended.
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes Optional for heat.
For the Finish
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil For garnish.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes and broth, stir in oregano and red pepper flakes, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  4. Lower heat and stir in heavy cream and Parmesan. Cook for 3-5 minutes until smooth and creamy.
  5. Add drained pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat in sauce. Adjust consistency with reserved pasta water as needed.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil and additional Parmesan if desired.
