Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-low heat. Add 1 tablespoon of neutral oil and the diced onions, seasoning with ½ teaspoon of salt. Stir occasionally for about 30 minutes until caramelized.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together ½ cup of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons of sweet relish, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and optional chili flakes. Set aside.
  3. Preheat your oven or fryer as per the frozen fries package instructions and cook fries for 15–20 minutes until golden and crispy.
