Step-by-Step Instructions for Easy Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Adjust the oven rack to the middle position.
  2. Peel your potatoes and slice them into 1/8" thick rounds using a mandoline slicer. Place them in a bowl of cold water.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir in heavy whipping cream, salt, and pepper, then remove from heat.
  4. Layer half of the potato slices in a greased baking dish, pour half of the garlic cream over them, and sprinkle half of the cheddar and parmesan on top. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  5. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  6. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25-35 minutes or until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown.
  7. Let the dish rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
