Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Slice the potatoes into 1/8 inch rounds and layer them in the baking dish.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add milk and cream to the roux, whisking until smooth. Cook until it thickens.
  5. Stir in onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the sauce.
  6. Add mozzarella and cheddar cheese to the sauce, stirring until melted and smooth.
  7. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the layered potatoes, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove foil, pour remaining cheese sauce, and bake uncovered for an additional hour.
  9. Garnish with parsley or dill before serving and enjoy warm.
